Laughter is an instant vacation. ~Milton Berle

Last night I went to Girls Only The Secret Comedy of Women at the Hennepin Stages. It  was so funny. I laughed so hard all. It is playing for a couple more weeks so if you are a women I would recommend that you go see it. You will not regret going.
I left my house yesterday at 3:00 and did not get home until 11:30 so the dogs had a long evening without me. They were both a little hipper when I got home. Morgan was not to happy to have to go back in her kennel after only being out for a half hour. So of course this morning she was up at 5:45. Well I was having none of that. I let out to go potty and then back to bed for all of us. They both made it until 7:30 before I had to get up for good.
Today I am going to do a little shopping with Christa. I want to get some new clothes for Vegas. I want to go to Medford and see if I can find anything.
Rick is coming home today.

Six Feet Under: “Okay, I'm a terrible mother who's responsible for all your problems! Happy?”- Ruth

I love Six Feet Under. I am thinking I would really like to watch them all over again. I saw them on sale on Amazon once for a super low price and did not get them, now I wish I had.
I have good news. I can hear again!!!! Amy came over this morning and tried to flush my ear out again. But even after we got a ton of gross wax out I still could not hear. So I finally went to the doctor. It was pretty funny when he came into the room, he was talking really loud until I told him I could still hear. He was pretty surprised to hear that even after Amy flushed it out that it was still plugged. Then he looked in my ear and he said "ohhhh it is bad." He said it was plugged way down deep in my ear. So he took his little tool and tried to loosen up the wax. Boy did that hurt. Then he had the nurse come in to flush it out again. He was worried that he would not be able to get it out because it was so bad. He said I might have to go to the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. He also looked in my other ear and that one was plugged pretty good too. Well  the nurse did a great job flushing them both out and now I can hear again. I asked the doctor what I could do so this does not happen again and he said I could try using mineral oil in my ears once a week to keep the wax soft. He said some people just get too much wax no matter what they do. Hooker ears! So I figure they must have been plugged up for awhile because now I can hear so good that it almost hurts! Everything seems so loud. Rick is sad because now I will let  him have the TV loud like he likes. Poor thing.
I stopped at Fleet Farm on my way home and got the dogs some chewys. Fleet Farm has the best dog department and they are so much cheaper then the pet stores. We always get our dog food there. They are about $5. less then at the vet clinic where we use to get it.
Have a good weekend

4 day weekends

This is a picture of the bird feeder that Rick gave me for Christmas. My Dad made it.
Today is my last day of work before my 4 day weekend. I am glad because my ear is still plugged! I am not very happy about it. I am going to give it a week and then  if it still does not clear up I am going to go to the doctor. It is hard to work because I cannot hear anything.
Yesterday after work I picked up Liam and Josie from daycare until Adam got off of work. Rick made us all pancakes for supper. He found a new recipe in his heart healthy cookbook. They were super good. Liam of course loved them because Rick made them. The first thing he wanted to know when we got to our house was  if Rick was going to be home. Then of course Josie decided that she wanted to be by Rick the whole time they were there too. Good thing Christa and Amy are having new babies so I can have them until they decide they like Rick better too!
This weekend Rick is going to the 18 meter shoot without me. I had bought tickets to a show in Mpls a long time ago and did not realize it was the same weekend. So he is going with Eric and Serena. That means I have to have dog duty all weekend. Morgan is doing really good. She has not had an accident in two days. She is super wild when we get home from work. On the days I am home with her by evening she is ready to sit on the couch and cuddle with us. I think she is going to be a good dog. Dexter is much happier since she has been with us too.
Only 12 more days until Vegas!!!!

Buried

Last night Rick and I watched the movie Buried. I had read about it in the Star Trib and it sound good so I got it from Netflix. It was so disturbing. The movie is about a contractor working in Iraq as a truck driver. He gets kidnapped and then buried alive in a coffin. The movie starts out when he wakes up in the dark. The whole movie was really sad and very disturbing. I will not tell you anything else about it in case you want to watch it. But I will tell you this. You will not be happy when you are done watching it.
I had a nice weekend. Friday night Rick, Christa, Jese and I went up to Cassie and Nick's house to so everyone could meet Glory. Then we went out for supper at Bonfire. We had lots of fun.
Saturday Rick went to an archery shoot and I babysat Liam and Josie. It is Adam' s birthday today and Amy want to take him to a movie and out for supper for his birthday. So being the nice person that I am I said I would watch the kids for them so they could go.
Sunday WAC had a shoot so I went down for a little while and visited with everyone and shot for awhile. Then I went to Walmart and got stuff to make 3 different meals this week. I  know it is pretty shocking! I made turkey and black bean chili last night. It was very good.
I lifted on Saturday morning and my abs are still sore! I changed things up a little while lifting and I sure can tell.
My left ear is all plugged up again. It is sooooo annoying.  It happens about once a year. The doctor tells me when it happens to put peroxide in it 3 times a day for 5 to 7 days. The first time I did this it worked great. The next time it did not work at all and ended up going to the doctor so they could remove the wax buildup. That time I asked the doctor if there was anything I could do to prevent it from happening again. She said other then not using q-tips to clean your ear there is nothing I can do. She said some people are just more prone to having wax buildup in there inner ear. It really sucks. I cannot hear a thing out of my left ear. I sure hope it gets better in the next couple of days.

Finally

Liam and Josie

Morgan

Rick Shooting at the Pro-Am

Ricks target on the top right.

So I finally got our new Mac computer hooked up. Now I am trying to learn how to use it. I have never had a Mac before so it is all new to me. Good thing Christa has one so she can talk me through it. I have been doing pretty good. I even got my pictures downloaded. I cannot figure out how to hook the printer up. It is not reading it when I plug it into the computer. Good thing I don't need it today.
Morgan is doing very good on her potty training. Today the only accident she has had was when I was hooking up the computer and I did not see her at the door. She does no bark or anything when she wants to out she just sits there. We will have to work on that.
I have the weekend off so I am very happy about that.

We finally have a name

We finally decided on a name for our new puppy. After debating names all weekend and trying several out on new puppy we came up with one last night. As you know our other dogs name is Dexter. We wanted something that went with Dexter and finally last night Rick came up with it. We are going to call her Morgan. If you are a fan of the Showtime show Dexter you will know why the two names go together.....
Morgan is doing good on the potty training. We are about 50% there. As long as we put her outside every 1/2 to 1 hour she will go outside to potty. She knows now that she should go out there. Our biggest problem is when we first take her out of the kennel. She is so excited to see us that she will run outside and pee but will not finish because she wants to come back in to see us. And then she will pee some more on the floor. Still pretty good for only working on it for 3 days. This morning she even ran to the steps when she had to go out to go poo. Of course if you are not fast enough to see her she will go on the floor. I sure am glad we only have carpet in the living room. So far she has not had any accidents on the carpet. Dexter and Morgan are getting along great now. They play together very good. Dexter is happy to have someone to play with. I finally took Dexter for a much needed walk last night. He was super happy go out. Rick tried to take Morgan, she did pretty good walking but then her little feet got cold so Rick had to pick her up and take her home.
Well enough about dogs! Well okay one more thing but not about my dogs. Cassie stopped by work yesterday with her new dog Glory so I could finally meet her. What a good dog she is!
This weekend I worked on Saturday and took Sunday off so I could go to IA and watch Rick shoot the Pro-Am. It is the first year since I started shooting that I did not shoot it. I did not sign up for it because I was not sure how much shooting I would get in before it because of my wrist surgery. I missed shooting it. It was fun to go down on Sunday and visit with everyone. Rick shot very well, getting his best score for Pro-Am. He was happy with it.
It was back to work Monday. It was a no fun drive into work with the snow fall. Lots of drifting on the roads.
I have pictures of Morgan and the Pro-Am to put up but I have not downloaded them yet. We got our new computer delivered on Sat. and I have not had time to put it up yet. Hopefully I will get it done within the next couple of days.
On Friday night I watched what had to be one of the worse movies I have ever sat through. It was called Frozen. Do yourself a favor and do not watch it!
Stay bundled up today it is going to be a cold one

Bad person

Dexter and Maddy meeting

I am such a bad person. We have been looking for another dog for Dexter. I have been looking and looking at all the shelters and every time I try and get a dog it is ether gone or not the kind of dog we want. It is hard because all the little dogs like the ones we wanted go super fast or are from puppy mills. The dogs from puppy mills are not social because they have spent there whole life in a cage and have never learned to be puppies. It is just so sad but I cannot have a dog that does not want to be picked up and is scared of everyone. I know it makes me a bad person. I know we were being picky but I also know that if I bring a dog into the house is should be what we want so it does not end up back in a shelter. Then this week we went to Mankato to look at a stray dog. It was to big and hipper for Dexter, who does not like big dogs if they are hipper. So we had to leave it. I felt so bad because I know that they were going to put it to sleep if they did not find a home for it soon. It really is heartbreaking to see all these unwanted dogs. If we had wanted a big dog we could have found one immediately but that is not what we wanted. So on Thur. Christa calls me up to tell me about a super cute dog at the pet store in Faribo. I said no way but then I made the mistake of looking at it. Yep you guessed it I brought her home yesterday afternoon. I know, I know I am a very bad person for supporting a pet store that gets it dogs from a breeder. But I just could not take the heart ache of looking at the shelters anymore. So yes I am a bad person.
So the puppy I got is a Yorkie-poo. She is 4 months old and super cute. She is 7 pound right now and should not get much bigger then that. She has hair not fur so she is non shedding just like Dexter. The pictures are not very good because she was so excited that she would not sit still for a picture and I was taking them with my phone. I will try and get some better ones this week. Dexter and her are hitting it off great. Dexter is going to be so happy to have someone to play with. I think we have come up with a name. I wanted to name her Newt but Rick said he did not like it. Newt is the little girls name in the Alien's movie. So this morning before I left for work we decided on Maddy for her name. So for now that is her name. We will see if it last.
So now the potty training begins. Yesterday she did not pee from the time I brought her home at 3:00 until this morning. She hated going outside in the cold and does not get it yet that she is suppose to go potty out there. I guess at the pet store she kept her kennel dry all the time and only went potty when they took her out and put her in the store display/play area. So she know she is not suppose to go in her kennel now we just need to get her to know that her potty area is outside. Once she fingers that out I think we will be okay. This morning when I got up her kennel was dry. I took her right outside but she would not go as soon as I brought her in she peed on the floor! Oh will we have lots of work to do! Rick has house trained dogs before and he says that Dexter will help because the Maddy will do what he does. I hope so!

Annoyed

Why is it people completely forget how to drive every time we get a little snow. I was soooo annoyed this morning driving into work. I got onto hwy 60 and was driving along at about 55 mph on the completely plowed road. I got behind a snowplow and had to drive 30 miles an hour for 8 miles. Now don't get me wrong I am really glad that the snowplow was out there plowing the road for all of us that have to be on the roads at 5:00 in the morning. So I was fine with driving slow but what was really annoying was the dumb ass that thought he could pass the 30 or so cars that were behind the snowplow. What was he thinking! So I finally got into Faribo and was able to get pass the snowplow when he pulled off the road. I thought I would finally be able to drive the speed limit again. All went well until I got behind a driver on hwy 3 going 40 mph. The road was completely plowed!!! I was soooo annoyed.
I am sure I would not have been so annoyed with all the bad drivers this morning if I had gotten enough sleep last night. I went to bed early and was sound asleep when Dexter decided that he need to get up and go potty at 2:00 in the morning. After 5 minutes of him jumping at the door I finally got up and let him out. He must have thought it was time to be up because after he did his business he started to play in the snow. I made him come in and we went back to bed. Well I went back to bed. Dexter thought he should spend the next half hour licking his foot. After that Dexter went in his kennel in the other room.
Most of all I am annoyed with myself for not taking Dexter for a walk in way to long. He would not be up all night if I would give him his exercise. Poor thing has been very neglected this winter. So I can only be annoyed at myself for his night wondering.
I sure hope the rest of the days gets better!

Random Thoughts

Life has been pretty quite lately and it has been nice. Because of that I don't really have much to blog about today.
My latest obsession is looking at all the poor dogs that are waiting to get adopted. I have gone on pet finders forever just to take a look but lately I have been going there a lot. I wanted to get a cat but Dexter hates cats. Well really he is just scared of them and will never stop barking at them. So I cannot get a cat but I would like to get another dog so Dexter has someone to play with. He loves it when Jada or Kipper come over to play. I have found a couple that both Rick and I like but they both got adopted  out before we got to them. All the cute ones go out fast. I am finding out also that it is almost as hard to adopted a dog as a kid. They want to know EVERYTHING about you. Some places even have to have a home visit before they will let you take a dog home. So anyhow I am spending way to much time on the Internet looking at all those sad, sad dogs waiting for a home.
It sure was cold this weekend. I had to work and on the weekends I have to open all the buildings on campus. I have about 20 buildings I have to open or check before 8:00. It was -10 on Sunday morning when I went out. I was glad when I was done and could come into the office to warm up.
Last night after work I went for a 3 mile run on the tread mill. I have really gone down hill when it comes to working out. I lifted once and ran once this week and that was all. I need to get my ass in gear or my ass is going to get wide! Rick is bringing my bike in for me this week and putting it on the trainer so I can do that too.
Only one more day of work and then I have 3 days off. I am ready to sleep in!
League started last week. It was the first time I have shoot 70 arrows again since last March. It went pretty good. Rick brought a different bow home for me to try this week. If I like it we are going to order me a new one. Rick is on the shooting staff for someone new this year. He gets a new bow for 50% off. Lucky guy. I guess that is what you get when you are a super good archer.
In one month we will be in Vegas. I am getting excited.
Well that is about all the random thoughts I have for today.

Funeral songs

I have been at a couple of wakes in the past few years where they have had music playing in the back ground. At some it was just back ground music and at others it was songs that the person who had died liked to listen too. So it go me thinking that I would really like that at my wake. So over the past couple of years I have made up a play list of songs that I like and saved them under funeral songs. Now some might think that is odd for me to be thinking about my funeral when I am not sick or have any plans of dieing anytime soon. But really it is not. I think everyone should talk with there families about what they want and really should have a Will written up spelling it all out if you don't think your family will do as you wish. Of course I say all the time that I should have a Will but I don't yet. Maybe I will get it done this year :)
Anyhow back to my funeral. I don't want one. That's right I don't want a funeral.  What I want is a memorial service or wake. I want my music to be playing and I want lots of pictures of my life and the people that have shared my life with me. I want to be cremated before this. I do not want to be put in a casket and put on display. It has always bothered me when going to wakes how the person in the casket never looks like themselves. I don't want people to remember me like that, I want them to remember me by what I look like in pictures in happy times. I don't want my ashes to be saved in a box. I want who ever outlives me to take my ashes to all the places over my life time that I have been to that have made me happy and spread a little of me at each of these places.
I hope none of this happens for a long, long time!

Lazy Day

I was suppose to work this past weekend but I traded days with one of my co-works so I had the day off. Of course now I have to work 3 days have one day off and then work 5 more days. It is going to be long but it was worth it to have the weekend off. Friday for New Years Eve Rick and I went to the Star Fire Grill. It was super good. After that we came home and starting watching the HBO show Boardwalk Empire.
Saturday I decided that I was going to do something I NEVER do. I took the whole day off and did nothing but watch the whole season one of Boardwalk Empire. I never waste the day like that but I decided we deserved the day off since we have worked so hard on the house for the past 5 months. It was a fun and lazy day!
So of course Sunday I had to make up for my laziness! Rick and I went to the club and shot for awhile and then went to Walmart. When we got home I got on the tread mill and ran 3 miles. It has been awhile and it felt good. When I got off the tread mill Rick got on. By then it was supper time so I made us some burritos. After supper was all cleaned up we sat down to watch Alien. Rick gave me the set of them in Blue ray for Christmas. It is really good. We watched the first two movies.
Today I am babysitting Josie and Liam. Josie wanted to take a nap so she is sleeping now. Liam is resting on the couch. What that means is he is reading books for awhile. I am going to make cookies this afternoon. Good to have something good to take to work since I will be working so many hours.
