It jumped out and hit me

Here are a couple pictures of the bathroom as it was being done and now as it is almost done. It is hard to take a good picture in such a small room.

Open Windows

It is so nice to have the windows open again. Fall is finally in the air. Of course I am sure we will have some hot days again but for now I am enjoying the cool weather.
So a couple house down from us the dad has decided that it is okay to have his kids ride lawn mowers and kiddie cars up and down the street for hours. It is like an endless parade, up and down they go..... The kids are not very old either. Sometimes they get to the end of road by our house and all get off and jump rope and just play in the street. Not really very safe even on a dead end street. I have seen a couple on near crashes between lawn mower and kiddie car. Not sure what the dad is thinking......
So I thought it would be fun the other day to run my face into a board on the deck. Rick and I were cleaning up the scrap wood etc. from the deck construction and I was going under the porch to get some stuff. First I hit the top of my head and then while still laughing about it I went back under the porch. Rick told me to stop going under it and I said laughing the whole time Oh I will be fine and that is when I stood up and smashed the side of my face right into a board sticking out for the steps of the deck. I hit it right above my left eye. This time I was not laughing. I had a nice size goose egg and it hurt :( I put ice on it that night and that took a lot of the swelling down. But it kept me up all night because every time I turned over and touched my face it woke me up. Today pretty much all of the swelling is gone and it has turned a nice shade of yellow. Thank goodness my hair pretty much covers it up.
I have pictures to put up but I did not get them downloaded to the computer yet. Rick has got his shop pretty much done. He started to move his work benches in this morning. He has got a ton of string orders to get done so he needs to get it up and running.
I spent most of the weekend in the garage staining woodwork. I sanded everything down that I did before and stained it again. It looks really good now. Hopefully we will be able to start putting it on the wall this weekend. We bought a sander that really works nice and makes a sucky job go pretty fast.
Monday I was going to start staining the doors but before I started I thought I would clean the garage a little. It was still a disorganized mess from moving. I really cannot stand messes.....Well maybe I really should have waited for some help in moving some of the stuff because my aching back is now really aching. My body is such a mess.....But it was worth it because now the garage looks much better and I can work in it and not go nuts looking at the mess :)
I only got one door half stained before the day ran out on me.
Last night I picked up Liam and Josie after work so Amy could work overtime. They were both very good for me. They love playing on the porch. Of course that is about the only place they can play now since the kitchen cabinets take up most of the upstairs. Rick had a friend of his come over and they worked on the deck until 8:00. They have got most of the floor on.
Rick got all the trim up in the bathroom now we just need to get the doors on. Of course I need to get them stained before they can go on......

Grilled Blue Cheese and Apple Sandwiches

Yesterday after work Rick and I went grocery shopping and spent $168.00. We have not really gone grocery shopping since we moved other then to just get what we need to get by. We we were out of everything so we got a cart full. I cannot believe how expensive toilet paper is. What a rip.
At work yesterday I saw a recipe for grilled blue cheese and apple sandwiches so I got the stuff for them. I thought they were delish but Rick did not like them.
I actual got to run 2 times this week. Good thing I did because it is so humid out again. We turned our air back on yesterday.
We have a million toads at our house. Every time you go outside they are hopping around. This morning when I opened the garage door to leave for work one was in the garage. I did not see it and kicked it. It scared the crap out of me. Dumb toad! Rick said one was squished under the garage door so it must be the one I kicked. That is what it gets for being in the garage!

Weddings, Birthdays, Cabinets, Staining, Menards, and on and on and on.....

The kitchen cabinets all boxed up

The Rugroden Family

Christa once again had my camera and took a picture of herself.

I would love to be able to start my blog with I have not been up to anything.....but I don't think that is going to happen for awhile.
Friday afternoon the kitchen cabinets came in. Rick and I managed to get them all upstairs and now they are going to sit until we are ready to put them in.
Friday evening Rick, Jane, Paul and I went to a wedding in Rochester for a archery friends daughter. It was the fanciest wedding food I have ever eaten. It was sooooo good.
Saturday we went to Christa and Jese's house for Jese and Avis's birthday party. Everyone made it for the first time in a long time so we took a family picture. It turned out pretty good. Christa grilled chicken for us it was very good. When we got back home Rick went to work on his shop and I went for a run. I have not ran in 2 weeks so it felt really good to be out. I ran 4 miles. I guess if I can still run 4 miles I have not turned into a total slug!
Sunday we did some more work on the house and then went to Menards so we could spend another $1000. A lot of the stuff we want for the house was on sale for a really good price so we got it even if we are not ready for it. We decided to put wood some of the walls in the basement so we got that. We also decided to replace the doors in the basement and got all of them. Rick also got his lighting and flooring for his shop. We did not think we were going to get the 6 doors and all the wood in the truck but we just managed to get it all in. To bad no one was waiting at the house to unload it all....... I am pretty sure I am going to need about a 6 months rest for my body to recover from all of this work!
Monday I ran to Walmart to get some plastic gloves for staining and some wire for Rick. While I was there I went to call Rick to find out if I was getting the right wire and dropped my phone on the floor. Of course the battery fell out and it takes forever for Blackberry phones to turn back on. I was not very happy. When I got home I finally got the hostas planted back in front of the house. It took forever because when they put the dirt back in they really packed it down and they had all the landscaping rocks mixed in. But I got it done. Then I moved on to all the boards in the garage and started to stain them. I spent the rest of the afternoon staining. When Rick got home at 4:30 he helped me finish up. Now we just have the doors left. Rick said he thought we should put a second coat on everything but I said if he wants a second coat he is doing it himself! One looks good to me. Rick is moving along great on his shop. He got it all rewired like he wanted and got the lights up. He even started putting on the sheetrock last night. He is going to get it all done just in time because he is getting busy with string orders.
Today it is back to work. When I get home I think I will take the dog for a much needed walk. Rick is going to go for a bike ride. I think we will have a much needed night off.

It's been a long time.....

Rick and I on our bike ride
Liam and Great Grandpa building the fire
This is a great picture of dad
Rick and Liam with the some of the fish they caught
Dad still acting like a kid at age 74

It has been a long time since I have posted. I know I said I was going to post pictures of the bathroom but I have not taken any yet, and we still need to get a few finishing touches on it done.
We had a great time up north. We had perfect weather and everyone had lots of fun fishing, eating, swimming, going on the paddle boat, playing lawn games and just sitting around the fire talking. Dad went for a 7 mile walk every morning. Rick and I went for a 22 mile bike ride. We wanted to go further but we could not find the trail so we came back home. We had a bear in camp one night. Good thing the dogs barked and woke everyone up. Rod went out and scared it away.
We had to come home on Sunday and leave the nice weather to come home to the hot and humid weather. Poor Dexter had stayed at Christa and Jese's house while we were gone and they do not have air conditioning. He could not get into the air conditioned truck fast enough when we got there. He does not do good in the heat. He was happy to be home.
Monday I had to go back to work. I was so tired and crabby. Then when I got done with work I had to pick up Liam and Josie from daycare. Poor kids were tired from being up north too and then they had a crabby Nana to deal with!
Rick and Tony (the contractor) got two of the windows put in and got the porch all level now. They also started to frame up the new deck we are putting on. Tony is going to come back today or Thur. to finish up the deck frame and build the steps. Rick is going to do the floor and sides by himself. They did not put the two big windows in upstairs because they decided they need more then just the two of them to do it. So since Tony is going on vacation next week it will be two weeks before they have time to get them in.
I am hoping that we can get a lot done in the basement over the next couple of weeks so I can at least have one finished area! I hate not having any pictures on the walls etc.
Yesterday I left work 3 hours early so I could get some stuff done. I needed to do all our laundry from up north and really did not want to wait until my days off to do it. I had to pick up Liam and Josie again at 5. We were all in a much better mood then the day before! Rick made us some fish for supper and then Adam got there by 6:30. Rick and Adam carried the couch and love seat from the basement up to the porch so we could get it out of the way until the basement is done. I have stuffed stored all over the house just waiting to be put where it belongs!
Tonight after work Rick is going to pull the last half of the carpet up in the basement and take it to the dump with a bunch of other construction garbage. The dump is making a mint off of us this summer!
I will try again to get some pictures of the bathroom up soon!
Stay Cool
