A Day Off

Posted by Picasa
Oh Thur. evening I went to the Burnsville Performing Arts Center with Kim and Sara and saw the Titanic. I was impressed with the theater. We had really good seats, front and center. And you don't have to pay for parking. The tickets were also a very good price. I will be going back there next time a show comes around I want to see. Before the show we went out to eat at Chianit Grill. It was very good! It sure was nice to have a night off and not do any remodel work all day. I took the whole day off and did all the stuff I have been putting off, like getting my address changed on my drivers license.
Wed. I had to dig out all the hostas in front of the house. Then I dug the fire pit in the back yard. That night my back was so sore I could hardly stand up. And it really did my wrist no good. It has gotten really bad again. I keep putting off calling the doctor to have surgery on it. I just don't have time to be laid up for a week. I have things to do!
Friday the contractors came and dug up the front of the house to fix the footings/blocks that have moved. This should take care of any water problems in the future. They also started on lifting the porch up. They are going to finish on Monday. Sure hope it does not rain so they can get there and get it done. It is such a huge mess with the big pile of dirt in the front yard. While they were working on that I finally got all the wallpaper glue off the walls. The only thing I could not do was the entryway because the contractors were in and out of the house. Speaking of contractors there was a hot, hot, hot one working at the house. I did not even see him until Rick pointed him out to me. Nice of him!!! So I had some eye candy to look at all day.....sure made the day go by faster!!
Rick has been busy getting the bathroom done. He had me help him with put the texture on. Well I tried to help him and after a couple of minutes of me getting it all over me and the floor he took over. I did go back and help him "stamp" the walls for the texture he was doing. It looks really nice. I sure am lucky to have married someone with talent :) Since we could not agree on a color to paint the walls I agreed to let Rick pick one out. Of course then he felt the pressure and could not decide, but I told him he was on his own now! He finally picked one out. He also got a new vanity. So yesterday he took out the old floor and got it all painted. Today he is going to try and get the new floor in and the plumbing in. I hope to have pictures of the finished room by Monday night.
Rick took part in the Waseca Triathlon this morning. He was on a team of 3. He did the biking part, biking 14 miles. He said it was lots of fun and he biked faster and harder then he ever has before. He got asked to be the team just this past week so he did not really have time to train for it. Good thing he is in good shape already. He tells me he took lots of pictures so I will try to post some.
I went for a 4 mile run yesterday after work. It felt good but it sure was hot out!

Kitchen

This is what our new kitchen is going to look like. The pictures are just off the computer from Menards. I will of course put real pictures up when it is all done. I cannot wait! Only a couple more weeks. We found out yesterday that the windows will be in on Wed. of next week. Thur. and Friday the contractor is coming to lift up the porch. We knew it was sinking on one side when we saw the house so we had money taken off the purchase price to pay for it. They are also going to dig out the front of the house and core fill the block. I am excited to have it done because then we can finally finish the basement. Rick and I are going to finish the walls in the bathroom tonight so then we can paint and get the toilet etc. back in it. One step closer......

Menards My New Home

Posted by Picasa
We now spend more time at Menards then we do at home. Well not really but it sure seems like it the last few days. We went there Tue. morning to have our kitchen designed. Then of course we had a ton of other stuff we had to get. By the time we got home half the day was gone. I did manage to get one more wall of wallpaper removed. On Wed. morning I got up and went for a run. I know it has been forever! I ran 4 miles. It felt great. Rick and I also went for a 24 mile bike ride on Monday after work. It feels good to exercise again. Moving and remodeling has really messed up my working out.
After running Christa stopped by because she had used my car and need to return it. She brought Kipper with her so he could have a puppy play date with Dexter. Dexter was so sad after Kipper left. Good thing they get to see each other for 4 days when we go up north. Poor Jese cannot go so he gets dog babysitting duty. I finally had to kick Christa out so I could get some work done. I spend 6 hours taking off wallpaper! I now have it all off except on the wall above the steps that I cannot reach. I just have to remove the glue that did not come off now. That goes fast it is just messy.
Thur. morning Rick and I went back to Menards and ordered our cabinets. They will be here in 4 weeks. So now we have lots to get done before they get here. We spent a lot of time looking at floors for the kitchen/dinning area. It is so hard to decide what we want because we know it is going to be a long time before we do it again. I was almost sick picking out the cabinets. I could never build a new house way to many things to decide. After we got home Rick went to work on the basement bathroom. He is doing the plumbing for the shower and is not having any fun. Once he gets that done the rest will be easy. I spend the afternoon paying bills and then I made cupcakes!! I have not made cupcakes in years but Rick wanted them and since he has been working so hard on the house I made them. I even made homemade frosting. After that was done I got supper ready for today because I am working and then I have to pick up Liam and Josie from daycare. Liam is going to be sad that I got all the wallpaper off because he liked to help me and pull it off the walls.

slow but sure

Storage room with new shelves

New lawn mower

I had to work all weekend but Rick was home and busy. On my days off I took all the stuff we had thrown in the storage room out and got it where it belonged. Then on Saturday Rick got some wood and made some shelves for the room. When I got home from work we emptied out the trailer with all the basement stuff and got it into the storage room. In the picture you can only see part of the room, he also has shelves on the other side of the wall that goes under the steps. It nice to finally have everything in the house and out of the trailer. I wanted to get it unpacked so we can give the trailer back to the person who let us use it. After we get the basement done I will have to go through the stuff and take it out of the boxes, but most of it can wait for awhile. It is stuff we don't need often.
Rick also bought us a new lawn mower. The yard is to big for a push mower so we got a rider. It should be nice.
Today is my last day of work and then it is three days off. I hope to get the rest of the wallpaper taken off. I just want it done, I hate looking at it.
We ordered the windows for the front of the house. They will be here in 3 weeks then we can get the basement done.
Rick started to remove the sheetrock and the old shower from the basement bathroom. He ran into some trouble with the shower and how they hooked the plumbing up. Like everything else the old owner did, it was hooked up half-ass. So now he has to do a little more work before we can get the shower out. As soon as the bathroom is done we can start the bathroom upstairs. One room at a time!
I will try and update more often I have been a little slow about it lately. Hopefully on my days off I will have more time.
I hope to get out running or biking again this week. I have not ran since the 4th of July and have not biked for a month. I am getting way out of shape. I did lift twice on my days off.

Mosquito Truck!!!!

The laundry room all done
One of the walls I have taken the wall paper off. The next day I had to remove the glue. It is so much work. I only have 5 more walls to go :( And yes we are going to get rid of the light above the table.
I was so excited last night because the mosquito truck came by and sprayed for mosquito's. I sure hope it helps because they are soooo bad. It sure cannot hurt!
We have been super busy with the house. It is exhausting but well worth it. We have the laundry room done and I have been busy doing laundry every since.
I spent most of my day on Monday taking wallpaper off. It sure sucks! I got the dinning area done and am starting all the hallway. After I got the paper off I then had to go back and remove all the glue. I did that yesterday while I was babysitting Liam and Josie. The of course they were a big help:)
Last night Rick and I took all the old sheet rock off the walls in his archery room and hauled it out. We were going to replace three windows upstairs but now we decided since we have his room down to the blocks we might as well replace that window now. So we are going to do the two windows upstairs in the front of the house and the two windows in the front of the house in the basement. Then we will only have the three windows in the back of the house to do sometime down the road.
It is so nice to have a yard now! Dexter is loving it. He runs all over the place when we are out together.
I have to go to the store today we are out of everything. So I better get going.

One room done!

Josie
Dexter is happy because he loves this bed and loves to mess it up as soon as I make it! He was in it as soon as I put it up

We have the spare bedroom/sewing room done. I even got pictures on the walls. Yesterday I was very busy. I got all but two boxes off the the 3 season porch and put away. I painted the laundry room and I babysat Liam and Josie for a couple of hours. Rick got the dryer hooked up and is going to finish with the washer and the sink tonight. It is off to work for me tomorrow. After 7 days off I am not looking forward to it at all. I could use another 7 days off!

moving, ufc, running, remodeling......

my half-black toenail

Rick running the 5 mile race on a bad ankle

Ricks' archery room after taking off the wallpaper, lots of work yet to be done.

Laundry room after putting in new plumbing, should be ready for laundry in two days.

Painting my sewing room

Rick getting ready to work on the laundry room

The mess in the garage before we got it all put away

This is Mary, she was my Grandma's and before that my Great-Grandma's. She is mine now and she comes to every house I am in. I figure she will bless our house....

Oh what a weekend we have had! We moved on Wed. and Thur. We went shopping and got a new fridge, 2 new doors and lots of remodeling stuff. Rick has got the laundry room almost ready to go and the sewing room is ready for the floor to be put down tonight. We were going to start to remodel the bathroom upstairs but found that the downstairs bathroom has a major leak behind the shower that has cause some rotten sheet rock. So we are starting with that bathroom. We have lots of work to do but it is going to be so worth it when it is done. We both really like the area we moved to, it is so peace full here.
I almost forgot to say thanks to all of those who helped us move! We really had some great help and could not have done it without everyone of you!!!!
Sat. night was UFC night! Eric and Serena come down to watch it with us. They were our first house guest. It was a fun night with really great fights.
Sunday morning we got up and ran the Waseca Lakes 5 mile run. It rained and was so humid! Rick ran even if he should not have, he sprained his ankle while moving on Wed. and it is still pretty bad. He finished the race in 49:21 coming in 72 place. I finished it in 45:45 coming in 42 place. Amy brought Liam and he ran 1.5 miles of the race with out stopping. That is so good for a 3 year old to run that far!!
After the race on Sunday we got busy again. Well I might have had to take a nap first. Rick got most of the laundry room done. I got most of the sewing room done.
Today Rick is back to work.
