Cooking, bowling, eating, archery and babysitting.....

I cooked and cooked and cooked on my days off. Well really on my four days off I made 3 meals plus I made brownies. It may not seem like a lot but for me it is. Now I have plenty of left overs to take to work all week. Last week I ate peanut butter sandwiches all week :) Saturday night we had family fun night with the kids. We went out to eat at the Mexican restaurant  in Waseca and then went bowling. It was Liam and Josie's fist time bowling so they had lots of fun. Sunday a bunch of people from WAC went to New Ulm for a archery shoot. It was lots of fun and I had a great day of shooting. It was a head to head tournament and the person who took me out is a really good shooter and he only beat me by one point. It was a good day of shooting. On the way home we HAD to stop in Mankato at 5 Guys and get some french fries.  They have the best fries around! Monday I  got to watch Liam, Josie and Eli at noon since Amy's daycare called in sick. Josie decided that she did not need a nap and Eli decided that an  hour nap was long enough so I had a couple of not so happy kids on my hands. Oh I forgot to tell you my funny story......when Rick got up for work on Friday the dogs came into bed with me. Dexter was under the blankets when all of the sudden he came out and started to cough right next to my head. Then it got really bad....he decided that he should vomit on the bed almost on my head! I got out of the way just in time. Dumb dog. Later Sharon

Corn Crib

Way back when I was a kid I spend many many happy hours in a corn crib. Yes I said a corn crib. You see when I grew up my playmates were my cousins. We all lived in the country so we did not have neighborhood kids to hang out with. So almost everyday we would bike to each others house and hang out. One of my cousins lived on an old farmstead with a barn and best of all a corn crib. We made that corn crib our play house. We spent so many hours out there playing and just talking about stuff that kids talk about. What great memories I have of that corn crib.
One of the other things we all did together was  to go to White Sands Swimming pool   Make sure you click on the link and check out the pictures. They have a bunch of pictures of the pool. We spent so much time there swimming and listening to WDGY on the radio. Oh it makes me smile just to think about it. Now the big White Sands pool is a dog park! Hope the dogs get lots of good memories there too :)
Well I guess that is enough of my childhood memories for one day.

Babies Babies Babies

                                                               Eli 7 months old
                                                             Oliver 6 months old

I got to see all of my grandkids this week. I even got to babysit Oliver for the fist time. Christa and Jese wanted to go to a movie and out for lunch so I told them I would watch him. He was a good baby and he told me that he wished I would have babysat him a long time ago :)
On Thursday I took Liam to school and then picked him back up and then got Josie and Eli from daycare. I was in Vegas for Liam's birthday so he got his gift on Thursday. I got him some cowboy boots and he loves them. He had gotten an cowboy had from his Grandpa Tim so now he is all set. He did tell me that cowboys have vest too so he needs one. I may have to make him one.
I am so sad that my vacation is done. 13 days went by way to fast. I have to go back to work in the morning. I don't know how I am going to get out of bed at 4:00 in the morning. Rick will probable have to push me out.
Thats it for today. If you have the day off tomorrow enjoy it!!!

3333 miles

                                                         Zion National Park
                                                     Rick at Zion National Park
More Views At Zion National Park Utah

The endless hallway at Southpoint. Every time I had to go to our room the hallway made me think of the Shining. It was spooky!
Rick, Hannah and I got to shoot on the same bail for two days.
A picture of one of the shooting areas.
Rick, Hannah and me after shooting the second day.
                                                     Mmmmmmmmm  Free Wine
Rick and I at the BCY party on Friday night
                                           Hannah bowling on Sunday night
Paul and Rick watching Hannah bowl
A couple pictures that I took on the ride home out of the car window while going 75 miles per hour. I was impressed with how good they turned out.

Well we did it! We drove out to Vegas and back with no troubles at all. When we pulled into our driveway on Tuesday afternoon the cars odometer read 3333. I guess 3 must be our lucky number. We spent around $260 on gas getting 43 miles to the gallon. The Prius did great the whole way, even going through the mountains in Wyoming and Utah. We had good weather both ways. On the way out we hit a little sleet in Rapid City SD and then on the way home we hit a little snow in northern Utah and southern Wyoming. It never slowed us down much. It took us about 24 hours to drive there and the same for the way back.
On the way there we drove to a little town just south of Salt Lake City Utah and spend the night. Then we got up early and made our way to Zion National Park. It was beautiful with the snow on all the mountains. We spent a couple of hours there and then made our way into Vegas.
This year the shoot was being held at South Point, it is 7 miles off of the strip. We were not sure that we would like being off of the strip but we both agree we did not miss it. For people that had never been to Vegas it would suck a little because you had to take the shuttle to get to the strip if you did not have a car. But since we have been to Vegas so many times we did not miss it.
Wed. after getting to South Point we just checked everything out and then went to a Mexican restaurant for supper. We were pretty tired from all the driving so we went to bed pretty early.
Thursday was a day to relax. We went to the trade show and got a couple of shirts and then watched the world archery shoot off. It was really fun to watch, it was very intense. We also spent a little time gambling and visiting  with everyone. The weather was very nice out 73 degrees.
Friday was our first day of shooting. Rick, Hannah and I got to shoot on the same bail. Rick shot his first ever 300 in Vegas!!! He was very happy. Hannah also shot good . I did bad for the first end but then came back strong. Joe Zafft also from Waseca did great too, shooting a 295. Over all it was a great day of shooting for the Waseca bunch. After we were all done shooting we all went down to the strip so we could eat at the Toby Keith restaurant. I can't stand Toby Keith but Hannah is a big fan and wanted to go there so we all did. The food was good so I guess it was okay that we went. Friday night we went to the BCY party. It is free food and free drinks so we always have a good time. Us women drank our fare share of wine :)
Sat. we had to shoot at 10:00. Rick, Hannah and Joe had good days of shooting again. I won't talk about my day :( After shooting we just hung out visiting and gambling. Sat. night the NFAA puts on a supper for everyone so we all ate there. They have a big give away but we did not win anything big. Rick won a target that they are mailing him.
Sunday I had to shot at 7:00. I did better shooting until the last arrow when I shot a 6! I was not to happy with myself for that, if I had shot a 10 like I had with the other two arrows I would have gotten 8th place and won some money! Oh well there is always next year. Hannah did well enough to win $100. Rick did not shoot until 1:00 so we had some lunch and then we all watched him shoot. He was in the first flight so every arrow counts. He did good but not as good as the first two days. He ended up on 25th place out of around 700 shooters! It was his best shooting ever in Vegas.
After all the shooting we went out to eat to the Mexican place again with Joe and Kerry. It is really good food. Then we just gambled and hung out. We got to bed around 10:30.
Monday we got up at 2:45 and got all packed and ready to go. We were back on the road by 3:45. We drove until 1:00 in the morning. We stopped in a little town next to Chamberlain SD for the night.
Tuesday we got up around 8:30 and hit the road again. We stopped in Mitchell SD for breakfast etc. Then we drove on home. We made it home around 3:30.
It was a great trip and we are both already looking forward to next year. We will be driving it again!

On The Road

It is finally time! We are leaving for our vacation in the morning. I am very excited to be leaving. The weather for the short route looks good so we should be able to make it to Vegas in 23 to 24 hours. We are going to leave at 3:00 a.m. and then drive for 12 to 16 hours. Then we will stop for the night and then drive the last few hours to Vegas on Wednesday. Of course things always change so we will see how long it really takes us. I will keep you all updated on Facebook :)
I have to work today until noon then I have to go to the dentist to have my crown put on. I will be glad to get the temp crown off. After that I am going to go get my hair cut. Cassie has given me permission to get it cut. If you look at the last post with all the hair cuts it is the second picture. I figure if I don't like it I will just have keep cutting and get it cut into the black and white picture  in the last post :)
After all of that I have to get home and get packed. I have not packed anything yet so I have a lot to get done.
Last night I had a dream that my bow blew up! Rick came up to me and said he had bad news that my bow blew up in its case. I said oh no, now what am I going to shot in Vegas. He said don't worry we will just put the factory limbs  back on it. Then my alarm went off and it was the end of my dream. It was funny since my bow has the factory limbs on it. Kind of a dumb dream. Maybe I had it because I have dry shot my bow twice this year and that will cause it to blow up......I guess I better stop doing that :)
Well I better sign off now. I will be back with lots of stories of our trip and lots of pictures.
